Description: Very nice bike ride on the rim of the Newberry crater. Last erruption hapened about 1300 years ago and left big obsidian flow. Great views to central Oregon volcanoes ... Hood, Bachelor, Jefferson. There are two lakes in the crater - East lake and Paulina lake (named by Snake Indian Chief - fighted for his land with white settlers 1850-1860).

Comment: It was quite a workout, for us living at sea level. But the view was worth every pedal stroke. During our evening debriefing in Deschutes brewery, we met Dominic Gill , who is biking from Alaska to Cape Horn on his tandem bike.
